About Katofalk
Katofalk is an independent reference for what is actually listed on US packaged food labels — synthetic dyes, preservatives, sweeteners, and a few other ingredients people frequently search for. It exists because most searches for "does X have red dye 40" land on either a blog listing a handful of examples from memory, or a forum post that is years out of date.
Everything here is built from USDA FoodData Central, a public dataset the government already collects from manufacturer label filings. We add structure on top of it: additive pages, brand pages, a dye-free filter, and a reformulation tracker that compares filings over time.
Katofalk is not affiliated with the USDA, the FDA, or any brand or manufacturer listed on this site. It is not a medical or legal authority, and it does not test products in a lab. See the methodology page for exactly what the data can and cannot tell you.
